Blind Brook’s varsity sports seasons are once again coming to a close. Between lacrosse, baseball and track, over 100 students have participated in this year’s spring athletic season.

Girl’s varsity lacrosse went out with a bang, winning their last game at home on BB turf. This season was sadly the last for the loyal seniors on the team, including Nicole Provenzano, Courtney Shaw, Sarah Lubin and Ariana Bitton. The team, led by Coach Mike Martino, says that they’ve had a successful and fun season and are ready for what next year will bring.

Boy’s varsity lacrosse, although the team went 2-14, won their last game on May 9.

Senior captain Billy Golden said, “We had a great group of guys and had a lot of fun. A lot of young guys were able to gain experience so we’ll be much better in the future as the program continues to grow.”

Players, referring to the day as #BillyDay, recall Chad Minick’s cross field assist to Grant Alter as one of the most memorable plays of the game.

The 2015 Blind Brook varsity track team had a season culminating in many accomplishments for several athletes. Sophomore Kaveri Reddy was one of the few athletes to be named an All-League athlete, after she placed first in at the league meet in Irvington.

“Track was amazing this year. Everyone on the team is super talented and so fun to be around,” Reddy said.

The softball team also had a great season. Not only did they succeed on Blind Brook turf, but also at Disney World, in Orlando, Florida. The team headed off to sunny Florida over spring break to show off their skills and scrimmage teams from all over the country.

Second baseman and sophomore Rebecca Kimmel said, “Traveling to Disney was a really great experience where the team got to learn new things and it really helped us grow and bond as a team overall.”

Possibly experiencing the most success was boy’s varsity baseball. The team finished their season with a loss to Dobbs Ferry in sectionals last Friday, May 22. junior Justin Morross says, “The season definitely [went] much better than anticipated. Coach Massi puts us in a great position to compete at a high level and win games. It has most certainly been a team effort and everybody [contributed] to our victories.”
