The Triumphant Trojans Are Returning to the County Center

Following victories over Bronxville and Irvington, the third-seeded Blind Brook varsity boys basketball team will be playing against the second-seeded Valhalla team on Tuesday, February 26, at 8:15 pm in the sectional semifinal game. The winner of Tuesday night’s matchup will play the winner of the game between Dobbs Ferry and Woodlands.

The Trojans already coasted their way to an undefeated league title, but they are hungry for more from this season. Junior sixth man Gilad Price said this about the team’s desire for hardware: “After a phenomenal regular season. We are excited to be going into the final four of the sectional tournament and can’t be more excited to play in the county center. The whole year we were doubted and told this was going to be an “off year” but we proved everyone wrong and got to the County Center. But it’s not the end; we have our eyes locked on that gold ball and hope to bring it back home.” Price, who has been a spark off the bench for the Trojans, will look to continue his, and the team’s, successes as the team progresses further along into the postseason.

In the Trojans’ last game, a win over Irvington, they were tested mightily. The game was close throughout, with our Trojans pulling out an eight-point victory, 44-36 over the Irvington Bulldogs. The Trojans were only up by three points heading into the fourth quarter and relied on their experienced seniors in order to pull out the close game. Seniors Chris Bucci and Zach Zimmerman had 12 and 11 points, respectively, in the victory.

After the win, the Trojans’ attention has been turned fully towards the task at hand. Junior Spencer Gordon stressed the importance of staying engaged, even with the increasing attention being paid towards the Trojans as the season progresses: “We are extremely excited to be heading into the semi-finals with a lot of momentum and good energy. However, we have to stay focused in order to get the job done. The next step is winning Tuesday.”

Make sure to support your Trojans this Tuesday, the 26th, at 8:15 pm to aid them in continuing their chase for the gold ball. Go Trojans!
